5th Floor:
Count the number of times the elevator hesitates, pray it doesnt change its mind about letting you in, and stumble outwards, declaring youre never going back down. Take note of the lack of protest, smile like love, and then kiss the frazzled door attendant in relief; the one who could never forget you if he tried.
And try not to hope.
But feel free to love.
4th Floor
Sigh happily at the sight of the library, find a cushion, and read until you think youre going to fall asleep. Read softly of little secrets, great adventures, and things learned too late. Do fall asleep. Afterwards, smile, and hold the book close when the door attendant wakes you; the one wholl remember always the girl that touched every page.
And try not to wish.
3rd Floor:
Hope desperately they havent decided to kick you out after all, let your fingertips stray across the woven fabric of the theatre chairs, and be enraptured by childhood movie scenes. Leave slowly, and hug the confused door attendant; the one who will remember you much longer than a fading bruise.
And try not to smile.
2nd Floor:
Pretend you didnt feel tortured by the elevator music, commit the rosy sheen of the tiled floor to memory, and glance reverently into glass display cases and windows, but remember always the sign saying Do Not Touch. Trip and spill your drink on the floor and rush to clean it up. Say Im sorry a million times and bump heads with the irate door attendant; the one who will only remember you until the bruise fades.
And try not to laugh.
1st Floor:
Give homage to the Visitors Center, say hello to the Gift Shop, and carry away mismatched trinkets to remember the pretty wallpaper and clean toilets in the bathrooms by. Finally, say goodbye to the held in place by sheer force of will smile of the door attendant; the one who will forget you as soon as you are gone.
And try not to cry.

~There is life before death...but sometimes you're dead before you die.~
I think it's sorta adorable.

I've always known that I'd be trapped;
the world outside no longer shows.
And here, within this dream, I'm caught...
the Lady of the Blackened Rose.
